1. You should use a special coffee machine for a good espresso.
The first thing you need to make a good espresso is an espresso machine, because pressurized boiling water is required for the rich oils of the coffee to disperse and pass through the fine coffee grounds. All tools used in espresso preparation affect the taste, and the quality and pH level of the water are also important criteria.
2. Choosing the cup for espresso is extremely important!
An espresso shot is one ounce in size and has a slightly thicker texture than other coffees. About 8–10 grams of coffee is enough to prepare an espresso. To prevent the coffee from cooling during serving, the porcelain cup should be slightly warmed; therefore, it is recommended to rinse the cup with hot water just before serving the espresso.
3. You should ensure that your coffee machine is clean!
Espresso machines have a tamper that presses the water down through the coffee, but before making your coffee, this chamber must be clean. The same applies to the filter. The filter used for brewing should be clean and dry, as this is one of the key secrets to making good coffee.
4. Timing is extremely important in espresso!
Espresso is prepared quickly, and when made with the correct technique, a golden crema layer forms on the surface. Therefore, before starting to make espresso, you must ensure you have everything ready, because if you do not prepare it quickly, the coffee will not be properly extracted and may become bitter. This means you will not achieve the desired taste. The correct brewing time for espresso is between 20–30 seconds.
5. Crema is a sign of a good espresso!
During extraction, pressurized water creates micro air bubbles that release the coffee’s soluble oils. Along with a rich taste and aroma, crema appears, which is an indicator of a properly made espresso.
TIPS FOR MAKING ESPRESSO!
1- When the crema turns golden and gains consistency, it indicates that the espresso is well extracted.
2- If the crema is pale and thin, it means the coffee does not have the desired aroma intensity. It should also be noted that espresso does not contain more caffeine than regular coffee.
